The much awaited VERZUZ battle went down between SWV and Xscape on Saturday night for a special Mother’s Day edition. This marked the second in the series since VERZUZ’s new partnership with Triller, following the Method Man vs. Redman showdown.
Just like some of the previous competitions, this one was too more about celebration of their discographies rather than a battle. To set the mood right from the start, Xscape performed Clark Sisters’ ‘Is My Living In Vain’ to show gratitude for their careers so far. SWV followed with ‘Endow Me’, another Clark Sisters classic that they have covered in the past.
The ladies of Xscape, Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, LaTocha Scott, and Tamika Scott performed their songs ‘Is My Living In Vain’, ‘Feels So Good’, ‘Am I Dreaming’ (with Keith Sweat), ‘The Arms of the One Who Loves You’, ‘Keep On Keepin On’ (with MC Lyte), ‘Work Me Slow’, Just Kickin It’, ‘My Little Secret’, ‘Love On My Mind’, ‘Understanding’ and more.
SWV’s Coko, Taj and Lelee countered it with their R&B group and solo hits like ‘Downtown, ‘When You Cry’, ‘Can We’ (with Missy Elliott), ‘All Night Long’, ‘Someone’ (with Puff Daddy), ‘You’re The One’, ‘If Only You Knew’, ‘You’re Always On My Mind’, ‘Sunshine’, ‘Rain’, ‘Weak’ and others.
Shout out to SWV for staying within their groups discography, ‘cause HITS! #VERZUZ pic.twitter.com/R3TjTLKVNW

Jermaine Dupri, who discovered Xscape and signed the ladies as the first act to his record label So So Def, made a special cameo. The Atlanta legend joined the ladies to help perform their debut single ‘Just Kickin’ It‘. “We appreciate JD for looking past what we looked like at the time and believing in us,” Tamika said.
