Back in June, most of the world rejoiced when R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison. The singer was found guilty of various despicable charges in September of 2021 and although justice could never really be served in a situation like this, it felt like the best case scenario for many.
Now, R. Kelly has been found guilty on even more accounts. Earlier today, a federal judge found him guilty on three accounts of child pornography and three accounts of child enticement. AP reports that n Chicago, where the case was held, one count of child pornography carries a minimum sentence of 10 years and federal inmates must serve at least 85% of their sentence. However in this scenario where Kelly has already been sentenced, the judge can decide whether he serves this sentence simultaneously or once the first term is over.
We’ll keep you updated.
To recap:
Kelly guilty on 3 of 4 child pornography counts, and guilty on 3 of 5 "enticement of a minor" counts.
Kelly acquitted of conspiring to obstruct justice, conspiring to receive child pornography, and receiving child pornography.
Kelly co-defendants acquitted on all.
