The gap between Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV and Tha Carter V was a whopping seven years. Of course, the majority of that wait was because of the financial dispute between Wayne and Cash Money at the time. Since C5, it has been nearly 6 and a half years and the 6th instalment in the legendary series has been teased for quite a while.
In the summer of 2020, Wayne teased the release of the LP and two years later at the YM Reunion, he announced that it was coming soon. Wayne fans will know that “soon” doesn’t always hold the most weight with his releases. Both the rapper’s albums and mixtapes tend to face multiple delays before their inevitable drops.
However, it looks like it’s about that time now. In a new commercial with Cetaphil, Wayne has revealed that Tha Carter VI will, very appropriately, be out on 6/6. Check it out below. Tonight, new Wayne drops as he appears on the remix of GELO’s ‘Tweaker’.
