Pop icon Justin Bieber is out with a project, with his work sounding more hip hop than ever. The star, who has had a tumultuous journey in the music industry — from first hit ‘Baby’ to now his latest album Swag, seems to finally be coming into his true, raw sound.
Far from recognition from days of the ‘Baby’ era, Justin now has a baby himself. Along the way, he’s picked up lessons in ways both good and bad. Now, all tatted up and father to one, Bieber has laid out his vulnerabilities and learnings into the new album.
The project features some of the trendiest names in hip hop, including Lil B, Gunna, Sexxy Red, Druski, Dijon and Eddie Benjamin. The production? Bieber is on it himself, supported by a roster of producers that include Carter Lang, Dylan Wiggins, Daniel Caesar, Dijon, mk.gee, Daniel Chetrit, Eddie Benjamin, Knox Fortune and more.
The album rollout also comes with a series of monochrome, gritty, yet family centric photographs taken by Renell Medrano. Fans on the internet have pointed out the thematic similarities with Kendrick’s shoot for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, although it is not unusual for an artist to do a shoot with their family.
