Macklemore and his partner Ryan Lewis won 4 Grammy awards including Best New Artist overall and Rap Album for The Heist this year, a development that irked some Hip-Hop fans. Mack himself felt bad about the situation which prompted him to send an apology text to Kendrick. He also called Hot 97 and openly claimed that Kendrick had got “robbed” at the awards.
While some, including Drake may have problems with the whole idea of apologizing for a win, Kendrick seems cool about the whole thing. He has reacted to the situation for the first time with Billboard in their latest issue. Read after the break.
The article also notes that Kendrick Lamar’s new album is expected to release in September and Black Hippy LP will probably come out before the year’s end too.
“That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude,” reflects Lamar. “However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people’s souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole Grammy moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot.”
