The much awaited first week projections for this week’s new releases are here. So how have Lil Uzi Vert, XXXtentacion and ASAP mob fared?
After a long wait, Lil Uzi Vert released his debut solo album Luv is Rage 2 with almost no notice to fans and that has paid off. The Philly rapper who is jointly signed to DJ Drama’s Generation Now imprint and Atlantic Records, is set to move 110-120k copies in the first week which will be more than enough to put him on the number 1 spot of the Billboard 200. Out of that number, 25-28k are projected to be pure sales, according to HDD.
Controversial rapper XXXtentacion hailing from Lauderhill, Florida, released his debut album titled 17 this week independently with distribution from EMPIRE. The set is expected to move 65-70k copies (15-18k pure sales), a number which is bound to surprise many. Kendrick Lamar unexpectedly co-signed the album on his Twitter on the day of its release and it seemed to have helped XXXtentacion to quite an extent. 17 is currently number 1 on the iTunes overall album chart.

The A$AP Mob will fare the worst of the three as the group’s latest album Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy is projected to move 30-35k copies only with 7-9k of that coming through traditional sales.
