Cardi B teamed up with Megan Thee Stallion in the summer of last year to release ‘Wap‘ and it ended up being one of the biggest musical moments of the year.
The massive success of the song might have been good to capitalise on with a sophomore album, but Cardi followed up with the news that her LP wasn’t yet ready and that she was going to be releasing a second single soon.

It may not have come as soon as her and her fans would have liked but tonight, she’s officially back with another one. This time she’s going solo and drops her new song ‘Up’ which comes with its accompanying, high budget music video. This is the kind of uptempo sound that will attract a lot of TikTok videos. You can check it out below.
UPDATE: Cardi sits down with Zane Lowe to talk about the new single, dealing with her nerves, status of her upcoming sophomore album and more.
“I really wanted to put out an album last year, but it was like, “I feel like I don’t have the right songs.” I have recorded so many songs. I think I’ve got like 50 songs recorded, and I’m just still not satisfied. If I’m not satisfied, I’m just not satisfied, but I really want to put out an album this year. I feel like I have no choice now. Now, I feel like I exceeded my limit of holding. I just need to stop with the fear. I don’t know. I’m just… My fear. Like, music is in a different stage right now. Because I don’t even be knowing what should be like the base of my album sometimes. I’ll be like, “—-. Should most of my songs be freaky songs? Most of my songs should be about tricking?” I’ve got my sensitive songs and stuff, and it’s just like, “Are they enough? Are they explaining my feelings enough?” My intro is just like… I’ve got like… Three potential intros, and it’s just like, are “They good enough? Are they explaining everything that I want to explain?” It’s just a lot. I just feel like I’m just not satisfied anymore, because it’s like the expectations be so high. I don’t even… Know. I don’t even know, but I need to stop, and just… Not only that, but it’s just tricky, you know? It’s like you want go on tour after you drop your album and everything, and then it’s like that’s another thing. You’re hearing different types of dates. “Oh, 2021 might be open. Touring might be open at the end of 2021.” “No, it’s going to be open in 2022.” When it is open in 2022, everybody’s going to want to tour, so you’ve got to wait for your slot. It’s like, “—-, I don’t want it to be almost nine, eight months when it’s my slot.” You’ve got to compete with arenas of basketball players, like that, the sports and other artists that are going to go on tour. It’s just a lot.”
