The whole saga between Nicki Minaj and Cardi refuses to die down, even if the parties concerned themselves want it.
Earlier today, Nicki Minaj did an extensive interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 to promote her return to music with two new singes — ‘Barbie Tingz’ and ‘Chun-Li’. During the chat, she candidly spoke on how she felt disrespected by Cardi B initially around the time when their Migos collaboration ‘Motorsport‘ was released. When the video came out, there were theories that the two female rappers did not appear in the same frame because they didn’t like each other. But Nicki claimed in the interview today that it was purely an issue of scheduling conflict.
Nicki went on to imply that Cardi did not pay homage to her for the fact that the Cash Money rapper agreed to be on a song with a relatively new rapper like Cardi. “You still did interviews and you all still jumped around that just to paint Nicki as the bad person so you could play the victim. That really hurt me,” Nicki said.
Internet media personality DJ Akademiks had revealed during a Twitch stream in November that Nicki had a verse on the song which was different from the one that was released to the public (listen to the commentary above). He had also claimed that Cardi was furious after hearing it and that’s why Nicki changed the verse, to avoid any controversy.
Today, Akademiks played the said verse in question on his channel and indeed, the verse is different from the one we heard on the final version. There is also a proper Cardi name drop in it. However, it doesn’t sound like a diss. “If Cardi the QB I’m Nick Lombardi,” raps Nicki on this verse instead of naming Quavo on the version that came out. Listen below.

This is another interesting turn in the episode which has the fans divided. Some fans believe it was a shout out to Cardi which she probably didn’t take in the right sense, which made Nicki change it. Others believe Nicki was throwing shade at Cardi with the line. Will Nicki further react to this leak? Let’s wait and watch.

So Akademiks made multiple videos saying Nicki dissed Cardi in the original “Motorsport”….Migos never cleared that up….now he get a leak of the original and she actually shouted her out?! LMFAOOOO, YOU PEOPLE ARE JOKES.
