Lupe Fiasco released his 4th studio album Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Part 1 to generally positive reviews this Tuesday. The album is preceded by non-commercial singles like ‘Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)’, ‘B**ch Bad’, ‘Lamborghini Angels’ and ‘Battle Scars’ with only the last one sounding like something the radio might like to spin.
HDD reports that the LP is on course to sell 85-95k copies in the first week, which is definitely a disappointing number. Lupe’s last album Lasers did 204k in the opening week, landing at the number 1 spot on Billboard. Food & Liquor II will end up much behind English Rock band Mumford & Sons’ new album Babel which is set for the biggest debut of the year so far with figure of 575-625k.
