New Dr. Dre Song ’12 Steps To Recovery’ Surfaces — Listen

Last week, a few snippets of unheard Dr. Dre songs surfaced on the internet which had Hip-Hop fans intrigued. Two of the beats were those which eventually ended up with 50 Cent (’50 For President’ and ‘Could’ve Been You’).

Oh shit! I produced the first and last songs on this. Surprised to see these surface https://t.co/7EIuK3rd5B

Jake One confirmed on Twitter that two out of the bunch were produced by him back in the day and he was surprised to see them online. Today, the full version of one of the songs has hit the web, courtesy music journalist and manager Chad Kiser. The track is called ’12 Steps To Recovery’ and was apparently a part of the original Detox album — which of course never released.

Interestingly, Dre mentions both “Chronic 3” and “Detox” in the song and tells the story of his career from being an unknown DJ in Compton to someone with a budget that most can not afford. “Break out your f*ckin’ Swishers, light up your f*ckin’ weed / I’d like to introduce you all to the Chronic 3 / It’s D-R period Dre muthafucka / back to set the record straight for muthf*ckas,” the multi millionaire raps confidently on the track. Listen to it below.

Back in January, it was reported that Dre was back in the studio working on his long awaited album Detox. A source who works closely with Dre later told HHNM: “I saw him in the studio recently and can tell you that he’s definitely working on new music. Not sure about the title but he’s absolutely recording new material.”
