UPDATE: The final numbers for last week’s albums are in and they are quite different from the projections. ASAP Rocky moved 75k copies including streams with 13k of those being pure sales, while Pusha was able to move 77k copies, therefore beating Rocky by 2k copies. Pusha T’s Daytona sold 39k pure copies and has managed to grab the #3 position on Billboard 200.
Previous story:
Pusha T has managed to take a lot of spotlight away from ASAP Rocky’s new album TESTING but let’s not forget that the latter has a much bigger fan base at the moment.
Pusha T’s DAYTONA album has received rave reviews from all quarters — even we have called it a near perfect album. But how is it projected to fare on the charts? HDD reports that DAYTONA will move approximately 65-75k copies in the first week with 18-23k out of that coming from pure sales. An incredible album has boosted the number that some fans must have previously projected but a small number of songs on the set (seven) doesn’t help in the streaming era.
This will be less than Rocky’s TESTING which is projected to do 80-100k (15-18k pure). It’s lower than his previous album At.Long.Last.ASAP‘s numbers, which sold 146k in the first week.
Canadian singer Shawn Mendes’ self titled third album is set to top the Billboard 200 chart this week with sales in the 135-155k range.
