Big Sean has bossed up.
The rapper had mentioned last year that he had plans to start his own record label following the release of his latest album Detroit 2. “Yep! I’m starting my own after this album though. Any artist u think I need to sign? It’s time!” he said.
When Sean put out his song ‘What A Life‘ with Hit-Boy last week, many noticed that it didn’t have G.O.O.D. Music’s stamp on the release, leading to speculation that the era might have ended. It instead mentioned another imprint called “FF to Def Entertainment” in partnership with Def Jam. The Detroit rapper has released his new EP with Hit, What You Expect tonight and while doing some Q&A with fans on Twitter, he confirmed that he’s indeed not on G.O.O.D. Music anymore.
By the way this the first project where I’m on my own label as well, no more lil dawg shit!!!! I bossed up! #DONLIFE

“By the way this the first project where I’m on my own label as well, no more lil dawg shit!!!! I bossed up!” he first tweeted. When a fan replied to clarify whether he was off Kanye’s label, he confirmed that he’s “out that deal” so he can get a bigger cut of the pie.
“That’s a forever brotherhood, but business wise, I had to start getting a bigger cut! I worked my way out that deal,” Sean added.
