It’s been years since Cardi B dropped her Invasion Of Privacy album, but her presence has been felt throughout the time she’s stepped away to take care of her children.
Through big singles like ‘WAP‘ and ‘Up‘ and other features like on the ‘No Love’ remix, she’s stayed hot between album releases but now, it might be time for the long-awaited sophomore album that has already been delayed by quite a bit.
To kick things off, Cardi releases her new single ‘Hot Sh*t’ following a couple of teasers on social media. It’s produced by Tay Keith and features Hip-Hop heavyweights Lil Durk and Kanye West. It’s taking a shot at being the summer anthem that many feel is nowhere to be seen this year, yet.
Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Cardi says she was both excited and nervous about the release of the single. She also spoke on collaborating with Kanye on the song, saying, “Kanye gave me this verse a couple of months ago when he was just all over the media, because of all of the things that were going on, and I like how his verse it’s personal, but it’s not that personal. It’s enjoyable in the clubs that you could be like, “Yeah, yeah. You talk your big cash.” I really love it. And I’m so happy that he gave me this verse. And I had a lot of conversations with Kanye west. I learned so much about him and he’s such an amazing, sweet person. I’ve been feeling like, I wish a lot of people have conversations with him so they could just see the real…the him.”
She also added that adding Lil Durk was the label’s idea. “You know what’s so crazy? I never spoke to Lil Durk before, right? I was having a meeting with my label and everything and I was like, “It is missing something. We still missing a artist to it.” And it said, “How about Lil Durk?” And I’m like, “Yeah. All right. Send it to him.” And as soon as they sent the record, the next day, I feel like a couple of hours, they was like, “Oh yeah, he sent in the verse.” I was like, “Oh s**t.” And I loved it right away. He just for that young energy to the record.”
Cardi B added that right after ‘Hot H*t’, she has another single coming which sounds different than the first one. She will then start to put the album together. Stream the new song below.
