The late The Notorious B.I.G. quietly achieved another milestone earlier today (Feb 16) after his Greatest Hits album topped the million mark in sales.
The 2007 release sold 4,000 copies in the week ending Feb. 8 which brought the total to 1.003 million, reports Billboard. It received a surprising 339 percent increase in sales this week which was most probably due to the discounted price of $4.99 on the iTunes Store. As a result, it climbed to #74 spot on the Billboard 200 with 8,000 equivalent album units earned this week.
With Greatest Hits selling platinum, all five of The Notorious B.I.G.’s solo albums have now sold at least a million copies in the United States. Life After Death continues to be his best selling album with 5.36 million copies moved so far. Ready to Die (3.87 million), Born Again (1.96 million) and Duets: The Final Chapter (1.17 million) are were all past Platinum status already. The Notorious B.I.G. has sold 13.4 million albums in the U.S.
