Federal prosecutors have charged a person in connection with Mac Miller’s death last year.
A 42-page criminal complaint was filed in the Central District of California on Wednesday which alleges that Cameron James Pettit, 28, allegedly supplied the rapper with counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl. Mac was found unresponsive in his Studio City home on Sept. 7 and although the death was initially termed as accidental, it was later found out by the Los Angeles County coroner that he had died from overdose of alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl.
According to the document obtained by NBC, Mac had asked the man for percocet, a prescribed painkiller containing oxycodone. But Pettit delivered counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl, cocaine and Xanax to Mac just a couple of days before his passing, leading the authorities to believe that it could be the cause of the overdose. The criminal complaint mentions Pettit’s direct messages on Instagram with others where he’s reacting to the rapper’s death. “I think I should probably not post anything …just to be smart,” Petit said in one of the texts.
“I am not great … Most likely I will die in jail,” said another message from the man. Stay tuned for more information on the case.
