Kanye West Picks ‘Follow God’ As Lead Single From ‘Jesus is King’

New Supposed Kanye West Snippet Surfaces Where He Raps About Drake & Pusha T

The days of releasing at least one single before you drop your album are long gone. There are hardly any rules to this game anymore, with a lot of artists actually pushing a song after the album’s release, depending on the audience’s reaction and studying some stats.

Kanye West is the last artist to follow any traditional rules and although he has put out songs here and there, he hasn’t released a proper pre-album single with big promotion behind it in a long time. His new Gospel themed album Jesus is King has topped the Billboard 200 chart this week with 264k copies sold in the first seven days. The song that’s doing the best on streaming services is ‘Follow God’ which has more rapping than anything else on the LP.

Def Jam/Kanye testing 'Follow God' as a single off Jesus is King. Will update on this in a few days to see if it sticks.

Kanye has now formally picked the BoogzDaBeast, Kanye West & Xcelence-produced track as the lead single off the album, HHNM can exclusively report. It has already debuted at the number 7 spot on Billboard Hot 100 this week based on streaming numbers but the label will also be pushing it on radio and elsewhere in the coming week. It goes for adds across radio stations on Nov. 12th.

Can Kanye score a big hit here? With Jesus is King debuting at #1, ‘Ye has surpassed The Beatles and once again tied Eminem for the most consecutive #1 album debuts in chart history.
