The Weeknd has come a long way since the mysterious days of his hit underground mixtapes.
The Canadian singer is now more comfortable with the spotlight on him, as he transitions into a global superstar. His single ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ is an undeniable hit and today, Abel has earned a big feat as the song moves to the #1 spot on Billboard Hot 100, making it his first to do so.
‘Can’t Feel My Face’ has also gone platinum this week as it sold 134k copies, taking the total to over a million. Aside from this, his other single ‘The Hills’ is also gaining in popularity. It has moved nearly 800 spins on Rhythmic radio this week, signalling that it might blow up on the Hot 100 charts as well. That certainly makes things easier for the label as they wouldn’t have to hunt hard for a “follow up” single any time soon.
Both songs appear on his forthcoming sophomore album Beauty Behind The Madness which hits stores August 28.
