After a few mini editions, it was time to write a full Play It On The Radio for our readers. Heavy movement on the charts definitely motivates me to write so here it is. Who’s ruling the charts? Who’s struggling? What are my predictions? Find all of that in the 43rd edition of PIOTR.
Now that Mastermind is in stores and selling well, Rick Ross is moving on to his next single from the album. The rapper and his label have decided to go with ‘Thug Cry’ featuring Lil Wayne as the next release on the radio, set to impact April 1st.
Good decision since the J.U.S.T.I.C.E League-produced cut is clearly one of the standouts on the album. Haven’t heard it yet? Stream it below.
Looks like Young Money is taking full advantage of Drake’s popular track ‘Trophies‘. The song figures at #2 on YM’s upcoming compilation album Rise Of An Empire although it’s common knowledge that the track was originally intended for Drizzy’s third album, Nothing Was The Same. Drake released it for free on December 30th and the song instantly became a fan favorite.
The Hit-Boy produced banger is now being released as a single with March 4th set as the date for official radio adds. Good decision?
UPDATE: Official single artwork added.

Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk In Love’ is still putting charts on fire (#2 added song on Pop radio this week) but she’s now readying the follow up from her latest self titled album. Mrs. Carter has picked ‘Partition’ as the next single from BEYONCÉ which will be going for radio adds in the coming weeks, although a number of stations are already playing it. The track was produced by Timbaland and in one of her vlogs explaining the making of the album, ‘Yonce had revealed the inspiration behind the “freestyle-like” vibe:
“I’m in the studio and I hear this beat and I hear this baseline, it has snaps and has 2 tracks. It reminds me of like Too $hort or E-40. It takes me back to being in my car teenager and it takes me back to when me and my husband first meet. He’s trying to scoop me and he thinks I’m the hottest thing in the world. I kinda had this whole fantasy of being in the car and this whole movie played in my head. I didn’t have a pen and paper, I just got to the mic I’m like ‘oh, press record.’”

Here is a dose of Play It On The Radio for you.
Now that ‘The Monster’ is finally beginning to lose steam on the charts, Eminem has picked ‘Headlights’ as the next single from his latest album The Marshall Mathers LP2 which released last November. The song features Fun. singer Nate Ruess on the chorus and was produced by Emile and Jeff Bhasker with additional production by Eminem himself. It will officially impact radio on March 4th.
The amazing song where Eminem apologizes to his mother was one of the picks in our Most Underrated Songs 2013 year-end list.
